Texas

Second longest coastline of the Gulf region.

Introduction

The great state of Texas, with one of the most iconic cultures in the United States, has the second most land area of any state, and the second longest coastline in the Gulf region. Although maybe more well-recognized for cowboys, cattle, the Rio Grande and remembering the Alamo, Texas also has a fishing industry that supports more than 14,000 fishermen, 47,000 jobs associated with the fishing industry (the most of any Gulf state), and 73.5 million pounds of seafood were landed in 2014. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is responsible for the management of fisheries in state waters. Go Texan is under Texas Department of Agriculture and is responsible for the promotion and marketing of Texas shrimp
